Content
To include:
- Acting safely, promptly and effectively with emergencies at work
- Using the materials in the first aid box and buying supplies
- Understanding the duties of employers and the legal framework
- Simple record-keeping
- Using personal hygiene principles to prevent cross-infection
- Dealing with a casualty who requires cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
- Management of an unconscious casualty
- Control and treatment of bleeding, including clinical shock
- Burns and scalds
- Anaphylactic shock
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Chest injuries; eye injuries
- Poisons, gases and fumes, asthma, seizures
- Treating a casualty who is choking
- Recognising major and minor illness and responding appropriately
Theory and practical assessments will be carried out on Day 3
