By the end of their training delegates should be able to
- know the 5 key principles of the MCA
- understand the “two stage test” for capacity and the concept of “best interests” decision making
- be aware of the importance of record keeping issues relating to the MCA
- understand the need to act lawfully regarding care and treatment
- be aware of the need for protection of services/staff
- know of the implications for adult protection
- understand the concept of new criminal offences of ill-treatment or wilful neglect
- implement these principles in their daily work
- be aware of Deprivation of Liberties
